Where: Yamouri Inn

When: Wednesday night

Why: It’s wing night and they do it right. They’ve got 20-30 flavours each week including regulars like barbecue and hot wings, and some specials like Caribbean jerk, Szechuan and pineapple curry.

Where: Ventures Dining Room and Canol Lounge

When: Every night’s a big night

Why: In the Heritage Hotel, this upscale option gives you the choice of dining in the restaurant or bar area. It’s the same menu for both. Try the Bourbon Street grill. It’s a seafood pasta dish, with spices inspired by Louisiana cooking.

Overdid it? If you want to burn off the calories, try the Hammer Mountain Trail. It’s an 18-kilometre round-trip and takes you to the highest peak in the Franklin Range, overlooking town and the Mackenzie River. There are also a few waterfalls and a descent into a canyon en route.
