Those words were the beginning of a commitment by Chief Monfwi that the Tlicho (Dogrib) people would honour their commitment to the land, and to Treaty 11. That was in 1921. August 2005 marked a momentous occasion for the Tlicho. In a ground-breaking move, they gained the power to govern themselves.
